Cold Water Marine Life Aquariums – Doug Swanston Bringing marine life from coastal waters into the classroom. Options for equipment, tank stand, water chiller, pump filters and marine life that is suited to the classroom.

Fish Health – Dr. Christine MacWilliams First part of session will hone skills in egg disinfection and fungal treatments; second half will show how to prepare samples for shipping to the lab.

North Shore Recycling Program – Elizabeth Leboe Learn about ‘GardenSmart’, an award winning pesticide reduction education program and the valuable tools developed to promote the program. Garden party anyone?

These Fish Are Marked! – Sandi MacLauren An overview of DFO’s Coded Wire Marking program, the subsequent CWT Head Recovery program and the relative merits of various marked types used on salmon.

Invasive Plants Emphasis will be on invasive plants in riparian areas. Identification, removal, and management techniques will be covered.

Hydrologic Effects of Mountain Pine Beetles – Pat Teti The effects of the current beetle epidemic on the hydrology of watersheds is not well-known. Pat talks about a research project which is documenting the effects of changes in pine stands on snow accumulation/melt.
